Biography:

Born in 1948 (Hamburg,Germany). Studied conducting, composition, piano and percussion in Sienna (Italy), Basle (Switzerland) and Hamburg. He conducted orchestras in Germany and Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Mexico), as well as ensembles for new music with which he has performed in Europe, the USA, Mexico and Japan. He has been working with the Odessa Conservatoire students' orchestra, and made tours of Germany and Switzerland with them. As a visiting professor, he taught at Universities of Mainz, Basle, Mexico City, Santiago, Tokyo, Osaka, and Odessa. From 1986 to 1996, he held the Vice-Rector position at the High School for Music Freiburg (now Professor). He is a co-founder and a member of the Board of the international public organisation Association New Music (Odessa), the President of the festival Two Days and Two Nights of New Music (Odessa, 1995-2002) and the festival Roaring Hoofs (Ulaanbaatar, 1999-2002), Golden Silk-Sound-Road (Kyrgystan, 2000, 2001), Cracking Bamboo (Vietnam, 2000).
