Biography:

Born on 24 October 1939 in Kiev (Ukraine). Graduated from Kiev M.V.Lysenko Secondary Musical School (in theory) in 1959 and from Kiev State P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatoire (now National Musical Academy of Ukraine) under Prof. K.Dankevych and Prof. B.Ljatoshyns’kyj (in composition) in 1964; there she finished her post-graduate studies with Prof. B.Ljatoshyns’kyj and Prof. N.Pejko (Moscow, Russia) in 1971. She visited lectures on art studies by Professors Ju.Asjejev, M.Tyshchenko, L.Miljaeva, Je.Hovdja, P.Bilec’kyj at Kiev Artistic Institute (1968-1972); and those on theatre history at Kiev Theatre Art Institute (1966-1969).
She lectured at Kiev Pedagogical Institute (1965-1966), at Kiev Artistic Institute (now Arts Academy) - music history (1972-1994). She has lectured at the Studio of the Honoured Ukrainian State Bandura Players Choir (since 1965) and as a docent at the National Musical Academy of Ukraine - composition and music theory (since 1994). In 1989 lectured about contemporary Ukrainian choral music in Canada.
She is a member of the Ukrainian Musical Fund (1973-), Coordinating Council of the All-Ukrainian Musicians’ Union, jury of the Choral M.Leontovych Competition, Organising Committees of the festivals “Kiev-Music-Fest”, “Premieres of the Season”, Honoured Committee of the Choral Festival “Zolotoverkhyi Kiev” (Kiev, Ukraine), jury of the World Choral Competition for Contemporary Music (Debrezen, Hungary) and the Head of the jury of the Choral Forum of Ukrainian Christian Youth (Kiev, Ukraine, 1999).
A member of Ukrainian State T.G.Shevchenko Prize Committee and Committee of Ministry of Culture and Arts of Ukraine.
She collaborated with Kiev Patriarchy organizing Centennial Patriarch Mstyslav concerts and “Spiritual Youth Week” concerts.
She is the author of 3 ballets, choral, symphony, vocal symphony and chamber music (suites, symphonies, fantasies and other works for orchestra, ensemble, piano, organ, violin, flute), 4 cycles of sacred music for organ and soloists, vocal cycles for voice and chamber orchestra, music to films and animation films, 45 songs. Her preferred genre is choral music. She continues the Ukrainian tradition of the author’s religious music. Her style has united features of Ukrainian folk and church choral singing. Also her oeuvre is featured by artistic and cultural universality.
Her works were in the programmes of choral festivals, competitions and concerts all over the world: USA, Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.
She is a Laureate of the All-Union Young Composers’ Competition (Moscow, Russia, 1962; 1969 - 1st Prize), Ukrainian Republic Komsomol M.Ostrovsky Prize (1970), Patriotic Song Competition (Kyiv, Ukraine, 1997 - 1st Prize).
She is awarded Ukrainian State medals and Ukraine Parliament’ diplomas.
Honoured in Arts of Ukraine (1982), People’s Artist of Ukraine (1995), Ukrainian State T.G.Shevchenko Prize (1989), Ukrainian Orthodox St.Volodymyr Order (3rd degree, 1998 ) and Princess Olga Order (1999).
Member of Ukrainian Composer’s Union and its Board (since 1968), its Secretary (1994-).
